Automated External Defibrillator (AED) (2 hours)

The AED is a computer controlled device that can be instrumental in re-starting a heart that has stopped beating. They are becoming quite common-place can be found in sports facilities, public buildings, schools, shopping malls and many workplaces.

AED's are designed to be very intuitive and safe to use by lay people who have completed this 2 hour course.

AED training can be provided as a stand-alone course or as a module of a first aid or CPR course. Topics covered include:

• The cardiac conduction system
• How AED's work
• The role of CPR with the AED
• Special circumstances and considerations
• Maintenance
• Legal aspects
• Students will receive ample time practicing on an AED simulator to ensure their competency in the event they would need to use one.

Attendees must be able to show that they have completed a recognized CPR course or first aid course that included CPR within the last 30 days.

AED training is now included as part of every CPR course and is optional with any first aid course.





Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) (4 hours)

This half-day course provides information on hazardous material that can be found in the workplace. It includes information about controlled products, workplace labelling, material safety data sheets and employee education.

• At the present time we take registrations only from groups and do not take registrations from individuals.
• However, if there is sufficient demand, special arrangements can be made.
